Description

During their growth process, trees are able to capture carbon from the atmosphere and release it in smaller amounts. This process removes a significant part of carbon dioxide from the planet, making planting trees a great alternative for cooling the planet. It was from this discovery that we thought: “why not create crowdfunding to boost the mass planting of new trees?” Thus was born The Fantastic Global Cooling Machine, an initiative created to collectively finance the planting of trees in Brazil, helping to minimize the already evident effects of global warming and climate change. The project's main objective was to capture potential donors and engage people to share campaign materials, creating a movement to boost the planting of native trees. For this, we created some actions and artworks that could be quickly shared and understood. We also provide a media kit with communication materials that could be downloaded from the crowdfunding page or the campaign's Instagram profile. The project had its own profile on Instagram, where we created different activations to generate traffic and visibility for the project. An example is the Instagram filter that worked as a game, where people could cool the planet while recording the video. As a language, our idea was to use Nature itself as the “voice” and signature of the campaign, in order to impact the public on the importance of planting new trees for the cooling of the planet in a more impactful way. In addition, we chose to present the trees as an “innovative and disruptive technology”. This description helped to draw people's attention, emphasizing that there is no need to wait for a new invention, as we already have a fantastic global cooling machine at our disposal: trees. Starting from a vibrant and dynamic visual identity, it was possible to convey the tone of urgency necessary to address a subject of such importance. The verbal construction included people at the center of the action, propagating the feeling of power and collectivity to help reforest part of the country, contributing to the fight against global warming. The rewards offered to donors, who received discounts at partner companies, were also an important factor in engaging and attracting new supporters. At the end of the campaign, we managed to raise more than 10 thousand reais. Removing only the mandatory fee from the crowdfunding platform, all the money raised was divided between three non-governmental initiatives that work with forest planting and preservation actions. There were more than 400 trees that contributed to the reforestation of native trees in Brazil and, consequently, to the cooling of our planet.
