The Uh-Oh Labs Dx Pro iOS app is part of an innovative COVID-19 testing system that enables individuals to run quick and accurate tests in a healthcare setting. It connects with the Uh-Oh Labs COVID-19 Instrument using Bluetooth, performing multiple tests simultaneously and sending clear and specific results to the Dx Pro app within 40 minutes. The Instrument is low-cost and the app is free, making this system an accessible option for companies, schools, institutions, and clinics to offer quick and reliable COVID-19 testing.
The Dx Pro app was in the proof-of-concept stage and required updating to offer a high-quality user experience. Uh-Oh Labs engaged Flower Press Creative Studio to review the user experience and improve usability before launch. Flower Press Creative Studio quickly learned from user testing that there were points of confusion around how to set up the test correctly. We simplified the workflow and introduced illustrations to make each step more clear. Our team used Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines to ensure that all app parts were well structured and intuitive. During visual design, we used a pre-existing “Covie” character as the primary brand element and built a color palette of blue, black, and teal to evoke the healthcare setting. We created visual designs using clean, lightweight fonts and interface elements.
Flower Press Creative Studio built out UI files in Swift and collaborated with a third-party developer to build the app following visual design. Our team worked on QA and usability testing to ensure that everything performed as planned. Throughout the build process, we identified additional features and made sure components were well-designed and thoroughly considered.
The Uh-Oh Labs Dx Pro app is now available on iOS and we look forward to following this innovative company.
