Metaphorm is our own personal project dedicated to creations inspired by diverse themes and brought to life through different media. We decided to kick off the inaugural Metaphorm with the creation of a high-value design publication.
The publication features a collection of photos, all taken with iPhone 12 Pro, during a trip to Mozambique and Madagascar. The focus of the photos is on children, portraying their challenging conditions alongside their smiles and optimism. In this place where drinking water is carried in dirty containers, and 70% of women suffer from anemia, the children dance. The children laugh.
The array of photos is accompanied by African poetry as well as poetry from other continents, texts from famous or unknown authors epistolary, reportages, children's homework and UNICEF statistics. It's a combination of image and word. A meeting point of different expressions on paper. The publication captures our perspective on an unfamiliar, underexposed world, as we try to give shape to emotions evoked. We also aim to inform, provoke, initiate a dialogue and stimulate thought and action. We go by the name of the boat in one of the photographs: Soa Fa Haiko: It's good to know.
