The Context

FHLBank San Francisco, a key institution in the Federal Home Loan Bank system, serves as a vital supporter of homeownership, financial institutions, and community development. However, their outdated website hindered their ability to effectively showcase these initiatives and provide an intuitive experience for members and stakeholders. The bank needed a modern, user-friendly digital presence that aligned with its mission to foster community impact and make critical resources accessible for its diverse audience.

The Solution

Our redesign transformed FHLBank San Francisco's website into a scalable, user-centric platform that combines a fresh visual identity with a composable design system. The updated site features intuitive navigation and a flexible design structure, allowing FHLBank's internal teams to efficiently manage content and adapt to evolving needs. With a streamlined interface and a signature "living line" element that reflects the bank's impact across communities, the design bridges professional authority with a welcoming,  community-focused aesthetic.

This revitalized digital platform empowers FHLBank San Francisco to advance its mission by providing streamlined access to affordable housing programs, community grants, and economic development initiatives. The redesigned site strengthens user engagement with critical resources like the Affordable Housing Program and WISH, amplifying FHLBank San Francisco’s commitment to social impact across California, Arizona, Nevada, and beyond. By enhancing content accessibility and visibility, the new platform directly supports underserved communities, helping drive sustainable housing and economic opportunities.
Additionally, the composable design system ensures the site’s longevity and efficiency, enabling internal teams to update content seamlessly without extensive technical resources. This sustainable structure allows FHLBank San Francisco to remain responsive to evolving community needs, keeping the platform relevant and impactful as the bank grows and its initiatives expand.
