We undertook a complete rebrand for Plan A, deep diving into the heart of the business to create a new brand identity to match their future ambition, values and reflect their dynamic growth.

Established in 2015, Plan A is an independent consultancy providing dedicated design management services for architects.

-Brand Identity

We established the brand foundations: Vision, Mission, Values and Ideals, which enabled us to define a meaningful brand tone of voice.

Our design began by exploring key concepts such as Elevation, Connection and Collaboration, sparking reflection and debate.

Each successive round of design revealed important insights into the way the directors related to the company identity, individually and as a group. This informed the direction of creative exploration, taking us away from a completely new identity to a considered evolution of the existing branding. 

The original brand was based around a famous diagram of 'The Design Squiggle' which illustrates a chaotic and messy beginning which gradually smoothes out to straight line, and alludes to the role Plan A as design managers would play in taming their clients projects.

Rather than focussing on the chaos, we leaned into 'The Line' as a way to embody many of the brand values, process and roles.

'The Line' creates a visual stability and consistency and underpins core brand values such as 'Straight-Talking', 'Singular' and 'Focused' It also relates to the role Plan A has in supporting their clients projects, and the smooth, orderly way Plan A works. It is a promise: The 'Plan' always leads to the delivery of the 'A' the finished article.

'The Line' is an essential part of the brand graphic language, and we used it creatively across all branded collateral; to illustrate, highlight, guide, navigate and contain brand content.

The website brings everything together. 

We created a set of short films to introduce directors, team and office culture. 

We designed bold typographic elements to communicate their core offering, process and client testimonials.

We shaped content around our newly defined brand values, and developed extended case studies that demonstrate each value in practice. 

We created cinematic project pages with strong imagery and a flexible image galleries.

The front end animation creates a playful sense of discovery, as the line draws down the page revealing content which gently fades in.
