Botond Voros’s official title might be graphic designer, but he considers himself “Mr. Wolf, the problem solver,” and his color-saturated portfolio certainly speaks for itself. Comprised of a dazzling array of diverse clients whose brands are rendered in striking images, graphics, and fonts, it’s easy to understand how Voros’ unofficial title of “problem solver” would seem appropriate.
Voros’ top advice for aspiring designers is to keep an open mind and a keen sense of what’s happening in the design community. “One should always stay curious and adventurous with new techniques and tools,” he says. “You can’t be well-informed enough. It is highly beneficial to keep of track of news and innovations in the design world. You should also be part of the art community.”
Humility is also part of the secret sauce that makes a fabulous and impactful designer. “Don’t fall in love with your design,” Voros says. “It’s always worth reviewing and making adjustments if necessary.”
Voros was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. “I spent my childhood years in the era when Hungary left the communist bloc and reconnected with the West,” Voros says. “Since then, apart from short periods of time spent abroad, I’ve been living here in this ‘transit’ country right at the meeting point of east and west.” Budapest’s unique geopolitical position had a massive impact on culture and society, including peoples’ mindsets and societal traditions. “The country, and Budapest, has a unique vibe to it and has substantially shaped my idea of culture and arts,” Voros says.

As a child, Voros’ pursuits were more athletic than artistic. “I played basketball and wanted to pursue that career, but by the time I turned 17, I suffered more and more injuries and lost my motivation to continue,” he says. Fortunately, one of his basketball teammates turned Voros on to hip-hop. “It instantly drew me to the art of graffiti,” he says. “I had liked to pass the time by doodling my entire life, and my desire to create graffiti connected all of these dots and directed me towards the visual arts as a career.”
His design approach is streamlined and based on a deep dive into the client’s industry and needs. “I conduct thorough research about the client and business area they’re involved in,” he says. “Based on that research, I prepare free-hand sketches and crystalize my ideas into three different approaches.” He then presents his ideas to the clients and lets them choose the approach that appeals to them most. “The most important aspect of a design is that it presents the necessary information in the most understandable and attractive way possible,” he says.
Voros’ objective is to introduce contemporary and artistic work to the masses. In the instances where his work doesn’t hit the mark, he endeavors to stay calm, focused, and diplomatic. “Criticism motivates me to try harder,” he says. “I try to focus on the constructive parts of criticism.”
When he’s not working, Voros loves to indulge in his guilty pleasures. “I love 80s action movies. Die Hard is the best Christmas movie,” he says. “I also like NFL fantasy league, Caps, and all Batman stuff.”
